I have recently been inspired by feeling friends, family, and community living their highest expression. Even though it feels that we have entered a period of darkness and fear as a collective, I am optimistic. I am optimistic because I see a meeting of the moment from the various souls I’m in contact with. I see an opening being created. An expansion through the fear or more so an integration of such fear.
I like to anthropomorphize the collective ecosystem or universe through the body. Where the entire body as a whole is the universe and each individual makes up a cell within this larger framework. All having a specific and distinct function, while simultaneously operating in solidarity with the whole. The further we zoom out from the cellular level, the more we can see that it’s not separate from the body as a whole. As it is with humans in the universe. We each have a central nervous system that is linked to the incalculable power source of the cosmos.
Looking at the collective in this way, we can turn to the dark, murky, and desolate realms of the composite, the collective unconscious, and see that these areas have been cut off from the power source of the universe. In relation to the previous metaphor, enough cells in the body strayed away from their distinct and specific function that the power source (i.e. energy or light) is unable to reach them. They are cut off from the power source, so these cells need to find their own power. This is a cancer in the body. These isolated cells have to feed on other cells that are still receiving the transmission of light from the power source, therefore draining the energy of the whole ecosystem because it is not able to circulate. The power is brought to a dead end where the cancerous cells do not see themselves as a part of the whole ecosystem and therefore no longer give back to it, or circulate the light.
As a collective, we naturally have many unconscious patterns that create such a cycle of ¨stuck energy.¨ War, genocide, racism and oppression, poverty, etc. are all examples of where the energy has gotten stuck. Each one of us carries this trauma and accordingly have some sort of relation to it. In order to get what is stuck to flow, we have to first discover where the power source has been cut off. The ¨ground zero¨ point, if you will. This is the process I believe we are in collectively, at the moment. We’re slowly discovering and identifying the layers of unconscious patterning, working our way to the source of each.
This first step in the process of restoring harmony causes a lot of disruption and outrage as what was perceived as real before, is identified as an illusion. However grand the disruption (and we see many in our current environment), it can be seen as a step in the direction of enlightening the dark shadows of the collective body. In other words, if we never saw cancerous cells as an attack on the entire ecosystem, we would carry on and soon experience no connection to the power source of the cosmos at all (i.e. death of the ecosystem). So, to look away from the ‘cut off’ areas of the ecosystem is to not take responsibility for the system's health and longevity.
Which brings me back to why I’m optimistic. I see us looking at the dark corners of the collective unconscious that have been running their destructive programs for hundreds of years. We are inquiring into this space to see where we took a wrong turn and I believe this is a good thing. We can all see that the world is polarized at the moment, and may become even more so in the coming years, but I see this as a part of the process of discovery. As our resources (attention, energy, light) get sent into the shadow realms we can integrate the ‘cut off’ and dissociated elements of our collective. With more consciousness directed to the areas of shadow, we will be able to see clearly that they are not separate from the system as a whole. Therefore, we will stop unconsciously treating them as such. This is the integration needed to get the stuck energy to flow. Moreover, this is how we can come to an embodied understanding of our interrelatedness because each individual's consciousness is adding value to the process. Similar to how computer chips increase their processing power with more transistors (i.e. power switches) on the chip.
I see family, friends, and people all over the world meeting this immensely intense and revolutionary moment. I am optimistic because a revolution takes a strong inward quest for truth and resolve, a transformation of the individual, and I see that people are willing.
This is about finding unity in duality, interdependence in our independence. To find the space where we are only separate by name. A quest that we have been on eternally. To know the One without a second.
